You have to “sign in” to view videos. Sign in to what?! I can’t find any Sign In button within the app! I logged into Youtube, but even that didn’t help! I clicked on “American Sign language Support”, and it took me to this B.S. ad site. No Customer Support link! What the hell is wrong with these people? Don’t they test their apps before taking people’s money?
mostly hearing teachers
I do like to see more apps and media using American Sign Language. But its always disappointing to see it’s a hearing instructor, a second language user, presenting their version of sign language. Why not leave American Sign Language in the hands of real experts? That is, Deaf people who are native users of ASL (and also, their children who grow up in the language). This is a serious question, because ASL belongs to the American/Canadian Deaf communities, and this is how we hearing people are corrupting their beautiful language. Maybe there are sincere intentions behind the making of these videos, but we need to realize how easy it is to do more harm than good with our nice intentions. I really would like to see a project like this handled by Deaf people and native users of ASL. Thank you for allowing this friendly comment.
incomplete video sessions, missing videos
I got to numbers 1-3 in the first lesson which should have countinued to 12. After 3 then I was instructed to go to the “next video”, there is no “next video”. Assuming this was a glitch I went to the last lesson on level 1, the alphabet, NO VIDEO FOUND. I didn’t expect much for my 3$ but I did expect to get more than learning to count to 3. 1$ per sign, could have gotten that for free. There are phrases and words avaolable in the lessons but if the basics aren’t available, which is it’s description…..poorly executed, poorly designed. FYI, the link for support exists no more.
