Fantastic Tutorial

For those that don’t know Serge, he’s a wonderful photographer in France. He’s put together a beautiful set of tutorials where he not only introduces you to a product, but explains a bit of his thought process along the way, dropping hints about great lighting and composition. While yes, this tutorial is for a dated version of Photoshop, it’s still quite applicable and the principles are sound. Serge has a unique way of drawing out elements from a photograph to make it excitiing. Photographers new to post-processing are going to find his courses invaluable.

Outstanding

Serge is excelelnt in what he does and is a great and natural teacher. I own “EVERYTHING” he has put out and even as a professional I am always gaining insight from his courses.

The best investment after you buy a DSLR

If you purchased a DSLR, then I assume you are well into the hundreds if not thousands of dollars of investment. You must be very pinched for cash, but this is the best sub-$10 investment you can do to help with your photography. I discovered Serge’s YouTube channel sometime during the late summer of 2014. Before that, I owned a DSLR for many years — all I did was shoot in the various automatic modes, and sometimes in Aperture- or Shutter-Priority. I knew some basic Photoshop, I knew what happens when you move the sliders in Lightroom, but that was the extent of my knowledge. This small course gets you far beyond that in very quick time. I have reviewed so many free and paid tutorials, but nothing beats Serge so far. This course is one where he walks you through the post-processing of some amazing photos. Along the way, he explains the various terms in plain English. This style helps you overcome the initial shock and understand the ‘why’ behind processing. The intuition is invaluable, and something I use every day. I very strongly recommend that you get this course. If in doubt, please visit his YouTube channel to boost your confidence. Once you’re done, come back and buy the course. As part of the course, you get a set of complete lessons as opposed to bite-sized tutorials where you learn about a particular trick only. Approaching a photo from scratch is what you will do, and Serge will walk you through the various decisions you’ll need to make.

Very helpful tutorial

Serge’s teaching methods are down to earth and easy to follow. He is one of the only Photography and Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop instructors out there how offer free, weekly tutorials. This is a worthwile, useful app.
