An extremely customizable metronome that inspires musical expression rather than mechanical execution. When practicing with this metronome, the animated beat patterns will reinforce the peripheral vision used when following a conductor.

Resize the pattern to fit into the corner or cover the entire screen. Drag the pattern anywhere you want. Customize the colors and transparencies of the baton, pattern, and background. Make the pattern and background disappear completely! Make the baton translucent so moving over the music is less distracting and more musically guiding. Adjust the background color and decrease the transparency to isolate the pattern from other applications.

Be able to practice without the click, while keeping to a strict tempo. Always know where you are INSIDE the beat with the traditional musical beat patterns developed over ages of musical performance practice, not an arbitrary circle for all meters and styles.

This metronome is an invaluable learning tool for conductors when using the Conductors Point of View, and performers when using the Performers Point of View.

All the conducting patterns are based on Max Rudolfs "Grammar of Conducting" and my professional conducting experience of 20+ years.

Features:
• Adjust the tempo, 10 to 300 bpm, by dragging the slider, using the up and down arrow keys, or the up and down buttons next to the tempo display
• 48 different beat patterns (meters): 1 through 12(3+3+3+3)
• Staccato, Normal, Legato, and Reduced (see below) pattern styles
• Patterns are displayed from the Performers or Conductors point of view
• 1, 2, 3, or 4 subdivisions of the beat
• Show or hide the beat numbers as it conducts
• 0, 1, or 2 pick-up beats
• Choose from 16 presets including clicks, drums, shakers, hi-hats, etc.

A note about pattern variations and reductions:
A 5/4 bar can be divided either 3+2 or 2+3 depending on the music.

The Reduced style:
At faster tempos, a legato 3 pattern turns into a one pattern while still clicking the three beats. A 6(2+2+2) changes into 3 while a 6(3+3) changes into 2 while still clicking 6 beats.

Checking the ‘Tempo Reduces Pattern’ box automatically adjusts the pattern when the tempo reaches a level that requires it. Checking the ‘Reduced Pattern’ box forces the reduced pattern at ALL tempos.

Conductors Point of View - automatically flips the beat pattern for conductors to learn and practice the patterns. This mode shows you the path the tip of your baton should take while conducting.

Performer’s Point of View - the conductor’s beat pattern as seen from the ensemble musicians. Recommended view while practicing your instrument.

Fänds klasse, wenn da mittelfristig was nachkäme.

App Fantastica

Così semplice eppure così geniale, consigliatissima!

Pointless

All this app does is show you the conducting patterns, most of which arent completly correct either.

Heres the point.

This app conducts. It animates. It is a metronome that conducts as well as clicks. I dont understand the review that it only shows you the conducting pattern. Maybe they didnt understand how to start it. - (Press the start button.) Max Rudolfs patterns arent completely correct? I dont want to appear defensive, but Im just very confused and curious to know which patterns mandyg233 thinks are wrong? I am also curious as to whether mandyg233 ever conducted live musicians. This app is extremely flexible to accomidate what a musician might need. Be it a tiny ball to the side, or a large ball moving across the entire screen. By adjusting the transparency of the pattern, ball, and background, you can customize this app to fit your specific needs.

Needed a Metronome

This was my quick fix for not having a metronome that I could play through headphones while I practice my drums. This program does exactly what I needed, and Im not sure why people have said the conducting patterns are wrong. As a former music student, and current music enthusiast, I can say with certainty that those are the correct patterns. This program would be very helpful for those looking to spread their conductor wings and fly their way through a piece of music. Thanks for the App Mr. Kelly! *One minor suggestion. Since this App is marketed as both a "Conductors tool" and a "Metronome" it would be nice if the program came with subdivision in the program, and not simply the down beats. (E.g. Eighth notes, sixteenth notes, triplets, dotted eighth-sixteenths, etc.)

Best METRONOME app overall

This is the best of all of the metronome apps out there because the conducting patterns contain so much information - you can tell which beat of the measure you are on with just a glance at the motion of the "baton" out of the corner of your eye, and you can even tell where you are WITHIN each beat. Except for the staccato and reduced patterns, the half beats are clearly indicated by the motion of the baton, and with practice you can recognize where other fractional beats are in the pattern. The conducting patterns are the result of CENTURIES of experience on how to transmit timing information to musicians. The standard visual cues for metronome apps - flashing lights, counting numbers, bouncing balls, or virtual pendulums - contain far less information than the movement of the baton. If you already know how to play under the direction of a conductor, this is the metronome app to have. If you havent learned with a conductor, give this app a chance, practice with it, and you will understand. Check out the iOS versions, too.
