Not like the old Mavis Beacon

Word Already Does This · 11 years ago · v6.3.2

This version is completely different from previous versions of Mavis Beacon. Instead of adjusting lessons to each individual, it forces you to go through lessons in order. Are you an intermediate typist looking to improve your typing speed? Well you will have to go through 30 minutes of training learning where the home row keys are anyways because there is no option to skip. Games are gone. Any ability to see what keys or key combinations you struggle with are gone to. Very unfortunate.

I’ve been using Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing for years. I started with Version 4 on my old windows computer & it’s Awesome! I’ve got alittle rusty over the years so I’m glad this version is available on my Macbook Pro. I’ve been having a ball learning all over again & they’ve come a long way. Much better graphics & lessons. Anyone that wants to learn how to type & are tired of pecking like I was should buy this program. It’s worth every penny, trust me! I’m in my 50’s & having a ball with this app. Everyone in the family can use it at the same time with their own unique name. Enjoy All, I know I am!!

Not the Same

When trying to go to “User Guide” it wont let me (bugs). I’ve restarted my Mac and still can’t get into it. I’m dissapointed in this App and have used Mavis Beacon before (with my Windows). This is a big let down, I miss the games like the old Mavis Beacon offered, and the challenges. Then I notice the price is higher than if I would have ordered online instead of the app store (what a rip-off). I’m highly disappointed in Apple (price increase) and Mavis Beacon (no games like the old Mavis and bugs!).

Not what it look like

Was hoping it would be as good as the Mavis beacon i have used in the past but this one falls short. Very disapointed and feel taken advantage of at this price. would recomend looking elsewhere

Disappointed

Nothing like the previous version. This is the most boring typing program I have come across. I bought this for my children to learn to type, but it is so dull that they don’t ever want to use the app. Earlier versions of Mavis Beacon had fun games which breaks up the repetitive nature of learning to type.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY

We have the Mavis Beacon for IBM and its a GREAT well priced program. The one for Mac is awful. I wish I had a CD drive so I could play my $3.50 IBM version. The other was so simple and user friendly. If you have access to a non Apple computer get that version, its a good program.
