Designing status item icons is a pain. And it’s hard to get a feel for how the status item will look once it’s actually up in the menu bar. In the past, testing a new status item image involved a tedious process to see the change. Menu Bar Icon Viewer helps ease the pain somewhat. You simply drag an image onto it and it displays it in the menu item. The app then monitors the file using the file change notification mechanism and when it detects a change it automatically updates the displayed menu item to show the update. That means you can do your editing in an image editor and when you do Cmd+S the changes are instantly reflected in the menu item.
