Money Trainer is the first (and only) interactive app for teaching money management life skills to teenagers and young adults with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other learning disabilities. Interactive lessons let you experience daily money challenges without real-world consequences, from the comfort of your own home. The Money Trainer app consists of different modules, each based on universally accepted teaching methods and quality intervention studies. 1. Using an ATM Lesson Plan Based on: McDonnell, J. J., & Ferguson, B. (1989). An comparison of time delay and decreasing prompt hierarchy strategies in teaching banking skills to students with moderate handicaps. 2. Depositing Cash and Checks Lesson Plan Based on: Cuvo, A. J., Davis, P., & Gluck, M. S. (1991). Cumulative and interspersal task sequencing in self-paced training for persons with mild handicaps. 3. Purchasing Using a Debit Card Lesson Plan Based on: Cihak, D. F., Alberto, P. A., Kessler, K., & Taber, T. A. (2004). An investigation of instructional scheduling arrangements for community based instruction. 4. Paying Bills Lesson Plan Based on: Cuvo, A. J., Davis, P., & Gluck, M. S. (1991). Cumulative and interspersal task sequencing in self-paced training for persons with mild handicaps. 5. Purchasing with Cash Lesson Plan Based on: Cihak, D. F., & Grim, J. (2008). Teaching students with autism spectrum disorder and moderate intellectual disabilities to use counting-on strategies to enhance independent purchasing skills. The ability to manage money is essential in allowing people to take control of their lives. Young people with learning disabilities are at particular risk of having poor financial management skills. The Money Trainer App presents a real life scenarios to improve those key skills.
