I found Scrivener very limited for creating eBooks, as far as graphics and memory size were concerned. I needed to create an image-heavy, step-by-step guide that had a professional look. After testing out other eBook publishing software and coming up frustrated with the learning curve, I decided to give Orion PDF Author a try. For the price, I didn’t have anything to lose. I love the drag and drop interface, where you can set up your headers, table of contents, images, text, etc. The user manual is very simple and straightforward. I was able to create a table of contents without any problems. I liked the way that I can reorder pages, although I would prefer and drag-and-drop capability rather than clicking a button until I got the page where it needed to go. The reason I’m giving this app 4 stars instead of 5 is the limited text styling. You can change the size and colors of your headings, but there is no way that you can set type to bold, italic or underline. That said, I was able to export the file without any problems. Even better, my PNG files didn’t bloat the size, which enabled me to upload it onto my shop without having to use PDF compression software.
