We’ve been working hard for months on this: the all-new Phocus DSLR Camera is finally here - one of our biggest camera updates yet. Here is what we worked on: NEW PHOCUS CAMERA Shoot directly inside Phocus with a completely redesigned camera experience built for portrait photography. Use Auto for fast everyday captures, Manual for DSLR-style ISO, shutter, white balance, and focus control, or Portrait for depth-aware lens looks and aperture control. SMARTER DEPTH CAPTURE Choose the depth source that fits the scene: native Dual/TrueDepth camera depth, LiDAR depth on supported iPhones, or on-device AI depth for more creative flexibility. Capture a portrait, then keep refining it in the editor with its depth, lens, aperture, focus, crop, and style choices preserved. LIVE PORTRAIT PREVIEW The Portrait viewfinder has been rebuilt to feel closer to the final image. Blur now responds to focus depth, aperture, lens character, and scene structure in real time, giving you a more photographic preview before capture. It is one of the most important parts of the new camera experience: less guessing, more intentional portraits. LENS LOOKS with CHARACTER Each portrait lens has been carefully crafted with its own photographic character, from clean depth blur to soft glow, swirl, highlight bloom, and expressive bokeh behavior. Standard, Classic, CineClassic, Portrait, Velvet Glow, Dream, Petz, Noct, and more also include simple guides to help you choose the right look before shooting. NEW 3D LUT LOOKS Shape color before you shoot with new in-camera 3D LUTs. Explore Daily, Editorial, Vintage, Monochrome, and Signature looks designed to pair naturally with the new portrait lenses and depth-aware camera pipeline. MORE PRO CAMERA TOOLS The new camera goes beyond basic capture. Manual mode gives you ISO, shutter speed, white balance, focus, exposure control, focus peaking, zebra highlights, and Luma/RGB histograms. On the output side, you can keep things light with HEIF or JPEG, switch to RAW or ProRAW for deeper editing, or pair a processed JPEG with a RAW or ProRAW file when you want both a ready-to-share image and a flexible original. Capture settings also include resolution choices, Prioritize Fast Shooting for faster follow-up shots, Maximum Processing for the highest-quality capture path, and Preserve Manual Exposure for a more intentional manual workflow. CAMERA CONTROL SUPPORT On supported iPhones, Phocus integrates with Camera Control so you can adjust zoom, exposure, focus, aperture, and portrait lenses from the physical control. Auto mode brings zoom and EV, Manual mode brings zoom and focus, and Portrait mode brings aperture, EV, and lens selection. BETTER CAMERA ROLL Photos captured in Phocus are saved to your Photos library and collected in the Phocus album, with depth-aware capture details preserved so you can reopen, review, and continue editing them later. DESIGNED for iPad, TOO The new Phocus Camera includes a dedicated iPad experience with layouts built specifically for the larger screen. Rails, histograms, floating panels, shutter controls, aspect ratios, and landscape orientation have all been refined so shooting on iPad feels intentional, spacious, and consistent with the iPhone camera workflow. MORE REFINED PORTRAIT CAPTURES We spent a lot of time refining how depth works across every camera lens: Wide, Ultra Wide, Telephoto, front camera, native depth, LiDAR, and AI depth. Portrait preview, focus depth, aperture behavior, zoom, crop, blur falloff, saved depth data, and final rendered results were all tuned to stay visually consistent from viewfinder to capture. The goal is simple: what you see while composing should feel connected to the portrait you get, and the portrait you capture should remain ready for deeper editing in Phocus.
