Despite reviews to the contrary I am finding the app to be very stable and sufficiently feature rich. Am a _long-time_ Quicken for Windows user (20 years) but made the switch because I wanted to get away from having to use a Windows VM and my version needed to be updated anyways (was on Quicken 2013). The only feature I would like added is the ability to have budgets be cumulative for select categories, rather than reset each month...
Piece of Crap
After struggling with the Windows version and it’s inability to keep accounts synchronized, I figured I would try the native Mac App (no need to use VM windows). It is almost completely useless. No way to manage loans. No indication of which accounts have been updated and need reqview. Too many clicks to perform reviews and update categories. Useless!!!!
OK but not for me
I wanted to use Quicken because Banktivity 5 (iBank) does not have direct connect to my account. My husband is also on the accounts and keeps forgetting to leave receipts for me to log. If I add transactions when I am spending, the app does not recognize a duplicate transaction and it gets taken out twice. I end up deleting the transaction I put in manually to keep my balance current. I’ll keep the app instead of going online constantly to my bank’s website and use that as a reference to keep my Banktivity current. Definitely not worth the price tag, Banktivity is the better banking app.
at least their CS is as bad as the software
Just “upgraded” from Quicken 2015 to 2016 for Mac. Now of course it doesn’t work. Call custimer sevice you say? One hour wait time. Chat, 30 minutes. Don’t buy this piece of garbage.
How do I fix the mess Quicken has made???
6/19 UDPATE: Friday I changed my bank account password, and Quicken only updated one of the four accounts under that bank. I still cannot get the other three accounts to connect via Quicken with the new password. For Pete’s sake, please fix this problem!!!!!!!!! Starting back in August, Quicken failed to update several accounts. Since then, it created a duplicate set of accounts, to include my business accounts. I did upgrade to Quicken 2016 today, but now my financial records are such a freakin’ mess, and tax season is just a couple months away. How in the world do I fix the mess that Quicken has made of my financial records??? I’m so unhappy with this product, and it’s an expensive program compared to others. I’m so disappointed in the quality, and the hours of work Quicken has caused me.
Quicken 2016
I have been using Quicken for several years. I do everything off line and use Quicken to check on the banks (banks do occasionally make mistakes). I was forced to upgrade from Quicken 2007 to keep up with hardware and operating system upgrades. Quicken 2007 was laid out nicely and was reasonably intuitive. Quicken 2016 is set up in a completely different format. The help files are less than satisfactory. If you search help on a subject you get references to buttons you can’t find on the display. I have had problems printing the Help files for later reference. A detailed manual you could print would really help. Using it isn’t intuitive. It took me at least 20 minutes and several tries to successfully transfer money from my checking account to an auto loan. When you try to access technical support the proposed wait times I’ve experienced have been 60 min. for telephone help and 20 to 25 min. for on line chat. I have never gotten through to tech support. While waiting for them I hacked around until I figured it out. I’ve started keeping important tax records in a spreadsheet. I used to print Quicken reports for this purpose. I cannot in, in good conscience, reccommend this product.
QM 16 FOR MAC
i was a user of the Windows version. I switched to MAC at the insistence of my daughter. This software really annoys me. It is so incomplete and confusing not like the Windows verison at all. For the price you would think this would be a adequate financial software but it is not. This needs a lot of work. The two teaams Windows and Mac should get together and come up with a decent software. M suggestion is not to buy until they do so. The windows verison was fine and easy to use.
