With the SAP Authenticator mobile app , you can protect your sensitive systems beyond your regular authentication mechanisms. This app is geared towards systems protected by the SAP Single Sign-On application and provides enhanced security by generating one-time passwords that can be used as a second factor or alternative password for login. Key features of SAP Authenticator • Generate time-based, one-time passwords (TOTP) based on RFC 6238 • Use the generated passcode as an alternative password if you need to log in without revealing your regular credentials or in addition to your regular credentials (as second factor) • Extend the app’s functions to multiple accounts • Protect the app with a password

Impossible to add an account

Another app from SAP that is impossible to operate. I failed already when trying to add an account. The first problem is with the second field. There is no information or indication what value is to be entered here. If you click Done, then you get an error message, because you failed to set a switch to On to display a secret key (the field name includes "not recommended" for setting it to on...) When you set it to on, then another field for a numerical key is displayed. You think "PIN" and enter a four-digit number. Theres no indication whatsoever of any requirements on the value. That is rewarded with the message Must Be 16 Digits Long. Thanks very much. Enter such a number, and youre told to see your administrator, so Im guessing it must be a generated SecureID value or something similar. Obviously, nobody ever tested this app.
