SYNAPSE ERm is a secure mobile communication application that runs on smartphones and tablet devices. It facilitates healthcare delivery by providing a unique timeline concept and access to frequently used tools. The SYNAPSE ERm timeline allows members of the hospital emergency team to post and view: •Text messages called "tweets" •Uploaded photographic images which are stored in the smartphone/tablet* •Uploaded video which is stored in the smartphone/tablet* •DICOM images sent from a workstation or scanner* •Updated information regarding procedures such as thrombectomy or other operations SYNAPSE ERm also provides tools for potential stroke patients such as the quick references for NIHSS score, Glasgow Coma Scale, ABCD2 score and tPA dosage. Rapid communication and information exchange with SYNAPSE ERm allow medical personnel to collaborate on a patients condition in the early stages of emergency medicine, both inside and outside the hospital. All DICOM images are securely stored on the central server. Mobile devices at remote locations connect to it through a secure VPN connection. CT, MRI, Echo, and other two-dimensional DICOM images are made available to clinicians who have access from their portable devices*. The timeline changes color to indicate how much time has passed since the onset of symptoms or when the patient entered the department. Commentary posted in the tweets is delivered to clinical staff in real time, which enables virtual conferencing. Note: The tweets are not in any way related to twitter. [Image browsing] SYNAPSE ERm receives DICOM images from the modalities or PACS. Once received, SYNAPSE ERm anonymizes personal information from DICOM file with a proprietary format for viewing. At the same time, SYNAPSE ERm compresses the images with a lossy format.
