Description
The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response standard, commonly referred to as “Hazwoper”, establishes the requirements for protecting workers engaged in hazardous waste treatment, disposal, remediation and emergency response involving hazardous materials.
An important element of responding safely to hazardous materials releases is the effective performance of a site or scene assessment. This activity is known by many different names with the most common being Site Characterization, Size Up or simply hazard assessment and involves the collection of records, physical, visual and electronic information about the situation. Collecting and identifying this data and information along with scene hazards allows for the performance of a quality risk assessment with the goal of understanding the risk and implementing the appropriate controls to mitigate or reduce risk.
Inside this app you will find 4 scenarios with activities designed to challenge the viewer and test your ability to see and evaluate hazards associated with emergency and hazardous materials releases. This app will allow you the opportunity to practice this critical activity in a safe and hazard free environment prior to moving to a physical environment where continued practice in a real world setting can occur.
