I love my World Book.

I really love this application! I first started using World Book in the very early 2000’s for shcool (it come pre-loaded on my iBook), and I have been hooked ever since. World Book is amazing for any essays or studying you may be involved in. The program sits on your computer so no interenet connection is required. Also, World Book is my prefered tool over things like Wikapedia and I will always have a coppy of it on any Mac I ever have. I would highly recumend it to anyone.

Inadequate for an Encyclopedia

AldoTheWoodle · 13 years ago

I found this software primitive and lacking comprehensiveness. Certain references I researched were either absent from its database, inadequately covered, or technically incorrect. (example… if you are a psychotherapist, try looking up psychotherapy and see how stilted and incorrect the narrative is.) I see little evidence that this software is reflective of contemporary American knowledge, and certainly not of the year 2013. This is perhaps best suited for a middle school child exploring for fun. This review cost me $20.

Very Disappointed

Articles are brief, superficial, not worthy of the title of "Encyclopedia". Even for the $20.00 this is not a buy. I want my money back.

Fantastic!!!

In this modern age, some might question the need for an actual encyclopedia when the internet is filled with any kind of reference materials one could ever need. I would agree that lacking a separate encyclopedia app would not be the worst thing in the world, yet I love this app. It provides lots of information all in one place as well as links to online resources for further reading. The multimedia components, Distance Calculator, Trivia Challenge, and other features make it absolutely spectacular. It is especially useful for students in school and for children who have a thirst for knowledge. I highly recommend it.:)

This "encyclopedia" contains amatuerishly written articles which are too brief. Subjects, that are covered, lack detail and depth. Most disappointing are the illustrations, photos, maps, etc., they are too small and offer limited information. World Book is definitely a poor example for an encyclopedia and certainly not worth the $20. A price of $3.99 is about all this encyclopedia is worth. Save your money and use some of the far superior, free excellent sites on the internet.
