This is just what I need. Can you make more Gu Wen? Can you add vioce to all poems?
I Like It!
First of all, thank you to the developer for revising this app to make it compatible with the 1st Gen iPod. I am happy to be able to use it now! Potential buyers should know ahead of time that there are no English instructions, so I will give you a few. First, there is no built-in volume control, so turn your device volume up before opening the app. You will see six selections: the top three are Traditional Chinese and the bottom three are Simplified. The first of each three leads you to six poems with audio tracks (there are only six as far as I can tell). The “==” button adjusts the layout, and the slider adjusts the font size. To play the audio, hold down the “speaker” button for about a second until it blinks blue. The first three poems are recited by a child (the cutest thing you ever heard!), followed by a woman and a man. Although the recording sounds somewhat amateur (you can hear the tape machine and a few clunking sounds in the background), the delivery these readers give to the poems is top notch. I love it! The rest of the poems have no audio, and none have English translations. To make this app a 5-star top seller among the Chinese language learner crowd, I would add as many audio tracks as possible and also English instructions, if not translations. As it is, the app is excellent for those who can already read Chinese, and is still fun and a useful tool for us learners.
excellent ap, needs development
As a chinese language learner, I have spent a good deal of time working through some of thes poems. This is a great application, or at least has the potential. The developers should continue to extend the number of poems with audio. Also, being able to toggle pinyin, and perhaps english translations, would be wonderful. But it is a wonderful addition to my iphone.
