Here we have called them life themes. Each life topic contains 14 meditation cards. The themes are: Being Love Being Alive Sensing Celebrating In the World Being Free Quantum Leap The 99th card is a Joker - be ready for a surprise… MEDITATIONS FROM TANTRA, YOGA, BUDDHISM These 99 short meditation techniques – derived from the spiritual traditions of Tantra, Tao, Yoga, Buddhism and Zen – were developed to be used in daily life situations. THEY START WITH "TODAY" Each Meditation Second begins with “Today…”, a suggestion to experiment with this technique during the day. Remember the short sentences at anytime – while waiting at traffic lights, while eating and walking or while in a conversation... Open yourself to what the technique conveys to you. These short meditations seem to be simple - however it needs some practice to integrate them into daily life. Using the Meditation Seconds is an opportunity for an instant retreat into our peaceful and loving selves – right in the middle of a chaotic world. These techniques lead directly into the power of here and now ¬– away from our constant mental chatter, worry and stress. EXAMPLE This Meditation Second originates from the TAO tradition: “Today I am aware of my big left toe.” It is not as easy as you might think it would be. Try experimenting with it as you read - with an open mind simultaneously be aware of your left big toe - you might experience some difficulties. This meditation can only be done with relaxed awareness, which most of us have lost.
