Description
Due to popular demand, I developed an iPod touch version of the Airplane Gyroscope Attitude Indicator app. This uses the internal gyroscope for very smooth aircraft attitude representation.
Important: If you are using an iPhone 4, please see our Airplane Gyroscope Attitude Indicator app for the iPhone 4, which has additional features for the iPhone 4, (GPS/Compass/Gyro drift removal).
This app is similar to the iPhone 4 version with the following limitations:
- Because the iPod touch does not have the GPS or digital Compass. The app does not include Airspeed, Altitude or Heading display.
The Ground mode will work the same, and be very smooth due to the Gyroscope, it is great for ground school and demonstration of the internal Gyroscope.
Flight mode (airplane mode) will work with the limitations that without the GPS/Compass, manual caging of the pitch and roll will be needed, as I cannot automatically adjust for the gyroscope drift (as with the iPhone 4 version of this app).
NOT FAA APPROVED: Do not depend on for flight navigation.
Use at your own risk.
iPad 2 users, free iOS update 4.3.1 is required to run this on the iPad 2 (the iOS update allows the gyroscope in the iPad to work).
