Ive been a Twitter user for years, but more often than not, I cant be bothered to actually visit the Twitter website to check my feed. This app provides me with a simple, attractive stream of my feed right on my desktop. Its unobtrusive and has all of the essential features: reply, retweet, tweet, and favorite. Links are clickable, and its possible to fetch tweets from a specific user, or only show mentions, or ones own tweets. It has some customizeability options for the window behavior and font. Its easy to pause the stream by mousing over to read a tweet, and tweets can be cycled manually using commands as well. This app gives me the utility I need in a beautiful interface fitting for a Mac. I highly recommend it if youre looking for a simple, visually appealing Twitter app.

Description
You can watch your own stream, someone elses, other peoples mentions of you, or all tweets containing a search term or hash tag.
Ambientweet shows just one tweet at a time. This is a deliberate design decision, which allows for a minimal user interface. This, in turn, means that the text can be bigger and theres no need for extraneous clutter like toolbars or buttons whilst you watch the twitter world go by.
You *can* use Ambientweet to post, reply and re-tweet, so its perfectly adequate for adding to your stream and responding to what you read. What it doesnt include is lots of complicated functionality for viewing profiles, following people, managing lists and accounts, and so on. The Twitter website is great at that stuff, so why try to replicate it?

Elegant and Minimalist
Cool
Nice minimalist twitter client, recommended
Just what I wanted!
Great Growl-like notifications of tweets. Simple but elegant. Now can you do the same and create an app for Facebook?
Good start, but missing some functionality
I like how it can stay on top of other windows and how it refreshes by itself. However, its not possible to set it up to run the last hour of tweets or so, or three hours, or what have you. What happens because of this is that, if selected, the newest tweets will start the ball rolling, but then it just goes in reverse for the last X days/hours. So, it only makes sense to pay attention to it at its start because otherwise it just keeps plugging away at old news. In order to continually get the latest feeds, you have to command-option-2 to get it to refresh, which I find annoying. Would also be nice to customize the appearance of the window.
Non-functional
I cant do anything with this app right now because just about everything reports HTTP error 410. I suspect the app has not been updated for Twitter API 1.1 since the last update was over a year ago. Contacted developer but havent gotten a response yet.
It doesnt work.
It says error 410 every time that I open it, and even after uninstall and download it again, the error persist.
almost
add the ability to change the opacity and color of the box plus change hashtag following to update to the most recent tweets and youll have a great app
