Have tried to download the data files on an iPad and new iPhone from 3 different wifi sources, one being 20 MbPS, and cant get dowloads to work.
Doesnt work
I keep getting an unable to connect to network error even though I am connected to the Internet and other apps are able to use the network.
Nice app but some flaws
It needs to remember me...I hate having to log on *every* time I go to use the app...or at least use touch-id! Also, it often says there is no network connectivity when there is.
No helicopter profiles available.
Ive been a member of AOPA for many years. I usually like their products. However, their APPs are never set up for helicopters. Why not? The helicopter industry is huge. Again, this new App has failed to allow for all types of aircraft. I even tried to create my own aircraft profile. It didnt work. I fly instrument flights in helicopters every day. Would it kill you to put in a profile for a B206, or an S70? Two stars from the helicopter community!
Nice
Great job AOPA!
OK First Effort
I spent a day and a half out flying around on business and exploring the app, pretty neutral on first impressions. Reminds me of one of those upgrades touting a new "clean, crisp, minimalist display" which translates into way too much white space, difficult to quickly and easily pick out the information you are looking for with poor color and font choices only an 18 year old with 20/10 vision can easily read. Not fond of the weather format either, took some looking to pick out what I was looking at. I can get used to that with more use but the competition doesnt seem to require any effort. Improve the readability and consider a night mode and my rating would go up.
Rudimentary, at best
Without maps, which I presume are coming in a future version, this is useless unless you a planning a familiar route and know the waypoints. However, the fact that it only allows for a single altitude (even if you change from an easterly to a westerly heading on different segments or pass terrain that exceeds that altitude), makes this so rudimentary as to be useless. It could even be dangerous if used for precise fuel planning.
