Born in rural Japan in 1896, he wrote poems and children’s books while teaching at an agricultural school and while devoting himself to teaching agricultural technology to farmers. He passed away when he was thirty seven and left numerous unpublished works including an unfinished manuscript of “The Celestial Railroad” which was found at his bedside.
