A pleasant climate and laidback atmosphere are the two elements that form the first impression of Taichung. Especially Calligraphy Greenway, a walkway that links up the citys major areas and a must - see when youre in town.
Calligraphy Greenway, which totals 3.6 km in length, stretches from the National Museum of Natural Science to the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. The shape of the walkway invokes the thought of "cao shu", an aesthetic form of calligraphy, and hence it is named Calligraphy Greenway, which literally translates as a walkway where you will be enlightened by the logic of calligraphy. This green corridor with peace and quiet, located in the middle of the bustling city center and filled with luscious plants, is rare among the cities in Taiwan. A stroll along it not only offers you a sense of leisurely calm, but also the chance to appreciate many fascinating artworks placed on the green lawns along the pathway. Moreover, there are also many exotic restaurants and unique boutiques housed on both sides of the road, with everything from Shanghai cuisine to Mediterranean fare up for grabs. These establishments have made this green oasis a global dining village, and Taichung’s unique and best-known attraction.
