Description

APRS is the Automatic Packet Reporting System used by Amateur Radio operators across the world. APRS Mobile brings the world of APRS to your phone or tablet via APRS-IS (internet) servers with its built in map engine, Internet connection and GPS. APRS Mobile gives you access to beacon your position and view other Amateur Radio operators anywhere in the world. Non-amateur radio operators may view Amateur Radio APRS activity and amateur weather station data around the world. Features - Beacon your position while app is in background - Real time position mapping of other Amateur Radio stations around the world with PHG circle plots, track lines and "Dead Reckoning" - Supports SmartBeaconing - Callsign SSID support - Ability to change APRS icon - Imperial, metric and nautical units supported - High and low battery drain modes for background GPS/positioning - Background beacon using minimal data - Focus on APRS tactical data, no messaging - View weather (WX) station data (graphs coming soon) - Beacon prediction - Packet statistics (packets sent, average time between packets, etc) - Maximize map viewable area by briefly touching the map to hide/reveal navigation - iOS8 Support App requires location services enabled when choosing to share your position with other Amateur Radio operators on APRS-IS with SmartBeacon turned on or to keep map centered on current position. Posted positions can also be viewed at other APRS websites such as openaprs.net, aprs.fi, findu.com and APRSWorld. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Connecting to APRS-IS while using cellular data may cause overages, we are not responsible for data overages.

I have this on my iPhone and have connected it to a transceiver, but cannot see my station on an APRS map. It would be helpful to have a user guide. Does this relate to Open APRS?

I try to search for my buddy in San Angelo,Tx while Im in San Antonio and it cant find my him. I try to shrink the map to include San Angelo and the app locks up and it takes forever to force close the app!! Then there is no email for app support!! You click on app support in this area and all it does is take you to a website FAQ!!! REALLY???? I was using iBCNU before and it was excellent!! Then google turned off the map API and screwed that up. APRS.fi website is even shut down on google maps. This is the biggest piece of garbage EVER!!!! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Works great and then it just wont work

Works great and then it just wont work. I wanted something dependable to use while doing events motorcycle do that our Communications Command station can track me. Well, tested this several times. Not consistent. At $4.99, I expect this to be very consistent and operational. Bunch of crap at times. Great at other times. Now I have it tracking me in truck for past hour and it stopped tracking 30 min ago. Why? I dont know. No direct support email or contact via app or App Store. What? They dont care? Fix this and upgrade it, please.

Doesnt have an audio modem!

This app is fine for the weekender HAM that doesnt actually own a radio, but if youre looking to use it as a TNC to beacon your location or receive APRS where there isnt a cell signal, look elsewhere. The whole point of APRS is it works without cell reception; where I need APRS and where I have cell are mutually exclusive. Also, even if it did have an audio modem, the lack of messaging makes it especially worthless and against the spirit of APRS. APRS is much, much more than just position reporting, which is all this app does, and it does it poorly. Waste of money.
