Description

*Get it once in the app store, and will work on both your iPad and iPhone* Rare audio version of the Douay-Rheims Bible translation of St. Jerome from the Latin Vulgate in the 16th Century. For over 300 years, this Bible was the only Catholic English translation of Scripture used. Still considered one of the most faithful and relevant Catholic Bible translations today. Adding to this treasure is the male British accent of the reader of the entire New Testament and most of the Old Testament. Originally recorded in the 1970s onto cassette tapes, and digitally remastered and preserved for your enjoyment. Will work on your iPad as well as your iPhone (see instructions below). HOW IT WORKS Download the app for free and sample some of the Scripture chapters first. Upgrade to the full version to have unlimited access to the complete Old and New Testament. These MP3s are streamed, not downloaded, so they take up no storage space on your device. A connection is required for the MP3 to play properly. To own these MP3s to manage yourself, go to our website and join the download service. REINSTALL OR PUT ON iPAD If you need to reinstall this app or wish to add it to another iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, download the free version, select the "Upgrade" button, and go through the purchase process again. If using the same iTunes account, you will not actually be charged again. HAVING PROBLEMS? *If you experience any problem, first try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. You have to go through the purchase process again, but you are not actually charged again if using the same iTunes account* To learn more about our other Catholic audio apps, look up Catholic Vault in the app store.

Poor reading and the reader should have studied the correct pronunciation of biblical names.

Audio bible

I only was able to listen to a small sample of this app. For an audio presentation, the speakers voice should be pleasing to the ear--whether male or female. I find the audio irritating--too high pitched and reads too fast. A neutral voice without an accent would also be nice. I wont be accessing this app anymore . Great potential though.

Great idea, poor execution

Jnpa · 14 years ago

I was really excited about this app. I love listening to apologetic and exegetical content on my iPod while Im at work, and I was wanting to find a way to inject a bit more of Scripture into my busy days. Naturally this app seemed like the answer. Unfortunately, one only gets to listen to a very small portion of the mp3s on this free version. Furthermore, while most of the reading is done emphatically and with a British accent, the audio quality is grainy, with a sometime oscillating speed. One of the speakers even mispronounces several words within the same talk. These mp3s seem way below professional quality, and could be re-recorded by new readers at very little cost to the developer, which makes it seem like they just dont care to do so. All that being said, it is okay as a temporary app, but Id never pay for the upgrade, and as soon as I exhaust the free content, its coming right back off of the iPod.

Disappointing

I would love to buy the full version but I think it is too expensive and hard to understand the accent .

Bad quality

connork27 · 14 years ago

I dont think that this was done well at all. I really thought that I would be listening to this all the time but its just bad quality. I think I will just go back to reading the bible.
