Description
Aurora Beacon is a Northern Lights and Southern Lights forecast app designed to answer the question that matters most: is it worth going outside tonight?
Instead of relying on a single global aurora index, Aurora Beacon combines live space weather, darkness, cloud cover, Moon conditions and your location to give you a practical local aurora forecast.
SEE THE AURORA TONIGHT
• Local aurora forecast and visibility guidance
• Northern Lights and Southern Lights viewing information
• Space-weather activity and real local viewing conditions kept clearly separate
• Best viewing window and the biggest factor helping or limiting your chances
• Recent trends showing how conditions are changing
FOLLOW THE AURORA
• Full aurora visibility map
• Northern and southern aurora views
• Immediate local aurora alerts
• Light-pollution and darker-horizon planning
• Viewing spots and Horizon Compass
UNDERSTAND THE SPACE WEATHER
Follow the journey from the Sun to Earth with solar imagery, solar-wind conditions, geomagnetic activity, regional ground observations and solar-event context.
See how solar storms, coronal holes, high-speed solar wind and geomagnetic activity can affect your chances of seeing the aurora.
COMMUNITY
See approved aurora photographs from real observers and contribute your own sightings. Public Community locations are kept approximate rather than exposing a precise private observing position.
AURORA BEACON PLUS
The core Aurora Beacon experience remains free. Aurora Beacon Plus adds deeper Advanced intelligence, Coronal Hole Watch, Solar Events and future/HSS outlook alerts.
Aurora and Northern Lights forecasting is uncertain by nature. Aurora Beacon is designed to make that uncertainty useful and understandable rather than promise that an aurora will appear.
