I’m a crminal defense lawyer. I’m trying to watch some surveillance videos in avi format, purportedly of my client committing a crime. This program says the files may be corrupt, or it doesn’t have what it takes to convert them. So, what’s the use?
Great results.
Converted GoPro HD (1080) to AVI. This software converted the file fast. Had to change the input file extension from m4v to mp4, otherwise it did not recognize the input file type. After this it worked great. The avi output is by default set to 500kbs max rate which produces small output files but not so great quality if there is a lot of motion. Changed AVI rate to auto setting and the output appears to be about the same quality as input.
a waste of money
I purchased this converter so that I could view a surveillance video in AVI format. Like the other review, I’m a criminal defense attorney and really needed to view this video of my client. I should have read his review first and saved my money. In addition, the cost was advertised at $1.99 for MAC App store users but my receipt shows I was charged the entire $3.99 for a worthless app that did not do what it advertised.
