Sloppy and choppy. All the possibilities are there but are poorly executed. App crashes as soon as Im done a play. Cant get out without closing app altogether. The one time i actually got it to work, and was able to save the .mov file, my exported movie looked VERY slow and Choppy. #failTOWN!
Basket man
This is a simple yet effective app. It has most things in it to do plays and drills, but it is missing drawing lines on player movement as an option. If you add that feature plus emailing the plays as a QuickTime or windows media player file, that would make this complete. Check out soccer dad, the gold standard in sports apps.
Big Vin
Its nice but it keeps crashing when you save
Encouraged, then disappointed.
I was encouraged by this app but then disappointed. It says in the description that it crashes when saving or loading *some* animations but for me it was *all* animations. I made the mistake of trying to use it when I could have spent the time with the app I have been using. Clearly this wasnt tested. These problems come up very easily. I will say it looks good if it worked even sufficiently. I liked the fact I could label the players using notation my players understand. Of course, it couldnt save those notations.
Nice but could use a little more....
Cant beat this for the price, but it would be a lot more useful if you could set your players up in different spots on the floor. Unless Im doing something wrong, you have to start every play with your players in the same spots on the floor (your PG on the left wing, SF left baseline, C in the paint....). I would like be able to draw an inbounds play, a play with my PG at the top of the key and so on. If someone knows how to do this please post, because then it would be a 4 or 5 star app. @@@Update@@@ This app lacks a lot more than I listed above. You cannot do any of the following that the Devs say you can: Save a play (program crashes if you attempt to do this) Email a play (program crashes if you attempt to do this) Remove the second team from the floor, even though they have an option for it in settings. Start a play with your players where you would like them on the floor. Most of the time the animation feature is useless. Program just freezes over half the time you artempt to use this. In short I would not recommend this program if it were free. I just wish I could get my money back for this POS. I would happily uninstall this.
Youth Basketball Coach is impressed
I coach a recreational team of 10-12 year olds. I was looking for an app that I could use to teach fundamentals and a few basic plays. This is a very full-featured tool. The "move" function is very responsive and accurate. The auto-attach for the ball works well. There are plenty of options for customizing look (court, player colors, numbers, ball). The system to save and load plays is easy to use and works well. While I rated it 5 stars because it really suited my needs and at less than a dollar, its an incredible value...I do have some things Id like fixed/changed. - there is a toggle for the "B team" which I think should remove them from the court, but it doesnt seem to work. - You cant seem to position a player outside the court along the baseline so drawing up a baseline inbounds play is nearly impossible since you cant put the inbounder outside the lines. - A little tutorial on the animation system would be useful. Its super easy, just click the "+" button to add a frame then move the players to the next position and click "+" again, but I didnt get it until I read the description on iTunes. - A set of lines for standard moves (dribble, pass, screen, cut) in addition to the basic line would be an upgrade. - There is a way to draw freehand vs. linear line tool, but I cant tell how to use one vs. the other. These are minor issues that dont detract from the value of this app. Cant wait to start using it when the season starts at the end of the month.
