Nice Interface But Fairly Useless

MyTwoCents · 9 years ago · v4.0

This app puts a pretty face on a subset of the USDA foods database. However, it suffers from these flaws that make it fairly useless: * It uses USDA food titles which are often cryptic (i.e., you have to know that "LT" means "Light". Although user foods can be entered and "shared" I see no evidence of shared foods in the listings; perhaps thats a feature restrictedto the paid version??? * It shows default nutritional values for foods (for example, Butter is shown as having 717 calories) but doesnt tell you that the values are for 100 grams worth of the food * It provides a mechanism for choosing a serving size and servings, but limites the scaling to full servings. For example, butter contains choices for cup or tablespoon, but you cant enter 0.33 tablespoons to indicate 1 teaspoon. * I is just a reference tool—it doesnt contain the ability to log the foods eating at a meal in in a day and show the totals. The same information can be referenced right on the USDAs web site for free, and the USDA database can be downloaded for free as well. Based on this experience with the lite version of this application I will not be considering purchasing the full app.

BeFit Lite

There are no portion or measuring quantites on the app. Therefore no way to know how many calories or vitamins or anything. It does measure by 1 piece of fruit. Uninstalled and reinstalled, no luck. It does have comprehensive lists of things to measure by helpful categories. Protein, calcium sodium and many more. Just no quantities to calculate.

Not useful

There is no description of portions so how can you access or plan? Also, there are abbreviations on their descriptions that are indecipherable, example: Look up “bagel" and find a list, including: "Bagel Pln "Enr wo/Ca prop”"-ok, so “bagel plain SOMETHING without WHAT is Ca prop?"

Love the improvements

Love, the new features of this app. Its certainly come a long way, less crashes thanks so much. Consider adding a glycemic index and the ability to track food calories over time, overall im loving this version very much.
