This app is incredible; what a great way to supplement learning to read Hebrew! You will not be disappointed!

Bible Student - Hebrew University Jerusalem

Just downloaded this Hebrew Reader Bible App. I see I am the first to write a review. In that case I should tell you my very first impression, "this looks like something I could really benefit from." Now I got it working and I must say easy to use - very intuitive - bright crisp and clear Hebrew and English Fonts. I love the interlinear English translation. I just tried the different dialects, its real cool you can select the Dialect you want and you can listen to and compare the different Dialects. Very good interface. I also noticed that if you click on their TES logo it takes you to the web where they have a ZILLION other great looking Bible products. I "LIKE" this!

All Syllables, no Words!

Love-to-Learn · 13 years ago

I like this app a lot. My only problem occurs when I want to hear the word and not the individual syllables. When I move the selector all the way to the right and start it reading, all the words sound choppy, not smooth. I world like to hear how the words sound when All the syllables are combined. Please fix this. Then I would give the app a 5 star rating.

Fine app; outdated interface

This app functions well, but it has an outdated PC like interface. For instance, a scroll bar.

does not preserve syllables

Nathanael James · 12 years ago

This product works through speech synthesization based on some basic Hebrew rules, rather than recorded audio. The ability to pronounce individual words when clicked and the fact that it works without an internet connection are both useful. However, it does not properly follow the Hebrew syllable division rules. Each consonant-vowel pair is treated as a separate syllable. This often results in adding multiple extra syllables to a word which are not there, and often makes it difficult to differentiate between vocal and non-vocal shva. Doubled letters are not treated as such: dagesh forte does not close a syllable. Accents markings are not accounted for at all.
