Le projet D’une bibliothèque à l’autre s’inscrit dans un désir de sensibiliser les citoyens montréalais à l’architecture et au design, en mettant en valeur les bâtiments détenant une grande richesse patrimoniale que sont la bibliothèque du Plateau-Mont-Royal, la place Gérald-Godin et le site du Sanctuaire du Saint-Sacrement à Montréal. Il tire son inspiration non seulement du contexte géographique exceptionnel dont bénéficie la bibliothèque du Plateau, mais aussi du désir d’offrir aux citoyens un moyen de découvrir l’architecture et le design des lieux sous un angle nouveau : celui du numérique.
Le projet, s’appuie sur un système de représentation architecturale de coupe élévation. L’application accueille plus d’une centaine d’images, représentant chacune des éléments d’architecture, d’histoire ou d’anecdotes d’usagers en lien avec l’espace. Ces dernières ont été recueillies lors d’un atelier de design participatif. Le fil conducteur de l’application est la ligne du temps. En effet, passant du passé avec la bibliothèque actuelle, au présent avec le projet d’aménagement de la place Gérald Godin, jusqu’au futur avec la bibliothèque projetée.
Lapplication a trois modes :
Un mode navigation pour explorer le paysage de la bibliothèque actuelle jusquà la nouvelle;
Un mode déplacement pour modifier ce paysage;
Un mode dessin pour redessiner le paysage et la future bibliothèque.
La possibilité de recommencer, de capturer une image et den connaître un peu plus sur le projet complète les fonctionnalités.
