Description
Lanna (Thai: ล้านนา), or Kham Mueang (Northern Thai: กำเมือง, is the language of the Khon Mueang people of Lanna, Thailand. It is a Tai language, closely related to Thai and Lao.
Unfortunately, even Northern Thai has approximately six million speakers, most of them barely capable to writing nor reading Lanna language. Its of course sadly slowly dying language.
BiLan (leaf of fan palm that was once widely used as a paper to write Lanna texts) app allows you to easily write Lanna text by simply using Thai Keyboard on iOS devices. With BiLan app you can
- Choose custom image as a background
- Write Lanna text on the background easily by simply using Thai Keyboard
- Custom Lanna font style
- Save it on camera roll or share it with people via Facebook
- Optionally provide a link which will translate Lanna text to Thai.
Im writing this app in the name of Lanna citizen. We must be more sensitive to the aspirations of Northerners to preserve their cultural identity, Lanna language!
