Bits at Mac App Store analyse

Eine unterschätzte App, wie ich finde. Sicher, sie hat noch gewisse Mängel und als eine vollwertige Diaryapp würde ich sie (noch) nicht nicht sehen wollen. Aber für mal eben einen Tageseintrag oder eine Idee zu notieren oder ein Foto + entsprechender Notiz zu machen, dafür eignet sie sich hervorragend, weil sie schnell und unkompliziert zu bedienen ist (und ist kostenlos). Also, ich bin zufrieden und würde empfehlen, sie einfach mal auszutesten.

Die Idee an sich ist super, aber die App ist sehr schlecht umgesetzt. Zum einen dauert die Synchronisierung relativ lange und ist ungenau, zum anderen haben die Mac Version und die iOS Version unterschiedliche Funktionen. Die mobile Version kennt keine „Tags“ und auch die Formatierungen nicht wirklich, weshalb man mobil nicht suchen kann und eben auch nichts irgendwie formiert ist. Die Bildupload Funktion geht prinzipiell, allerdings immer nur ein Bild pro Beitrag. Und selbst da funktioniert es nur per Drag & Drop und nicht über den integrierten Bildupload-Button. Außerdem gibt es noch die Share Funktion für Tumblr oder Wordpress Blogs. Diese ist aber so undurchsichtig, dass ich einfach mal persönluche Notizen in meinem Blog gepostet habe. Das ist äußerst unschön. Warum platziert man nicht einfach einen expliziten „Blog This“ Button, mit dem man als User klar steuern kann, was passieren soll. Ich hätte das Teil sehr gerne als Alternative zu Evernote mit seiner Datenbeschränkung verwendet, aber die Ein-Bild-Pro-Beitrag Einschränkung sowie die fehlende Funktionalität auf dem mobilen Client ist sehr schlecht. Im derzeitigen Stand macht die App einen sehr unreifen Eindruck.

I am not sure how to use the lock. Or maybe I don’t understand its function. The documentation on the website doesn’t help. But I like the app as a diary. It’s great and it’s free. Thanks :)

would it be possible to have password protect and ensure the application remembers the spell check settings even if I close it and open it again?

The GUI is minimal at most. Took quite a bit of time to figure out how to post to my blog. Used many other XMLRPC programs and this was the most user-unfriendly. Unable to add more than one image to a post. The documentation is lacking and leaves alot to just “figure it out”. Was going to try and engage the developer on twitter but it’s not in English.

Most of the time I use this app just for private journaling. But then I create Tumblr account, attach Bits to it, and now share some posts. After contacting developer I’ve found that image adding works also by dragging. Great! Pros: - Realy smooth blog integration - iCloud - Shortcut friendly Cons: - I wish to have several blogs, and share entries to different blogs based on post topic.

Nice little diary app. iCloud works great on my iMac, MacBook Pro and iPhone 4S. WordPress sharing is a big plus.
