Description
BookScanner has been rebuilt. Everything you scanned is still here. On first launch BookScanner brings your earlier scan history across by itself — nothing to export, nothing to restore, nothing to tap. The old library file is read and left exactly where it is, so the version you already had is untouched. Books that came over are marked "From your earlier scan history" in History, and the filter sheet will show you just those. You can run the import again from Settings whenever you like.
Your ATOS levels, AR quiz numbers, AR points, word counts, interest levels and Lexile measures come across exactly as BookScanner had them.
NOTHING TO BUY
Lexile measures, DRA, Fountas & Pinnell / Guided Reading Levels and grade equivalents are included for every owner. BookScanner has no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
FIVE READING LEVELS, AND WHERE EACH ONE CAME FROM
- AR (Accelerated Reader) / ATOS — looked up, never estimated
- Lexile measures — looked up, never estimated
- Guided Reading Level (GRL) / F&P — looked up from Scholastic when Scholastic has it; otherwise BookScanner estimates it and marks it ≈
- DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment) — marked ≈ when BookScanner estimates it
- Grade level equivalent — marked ≈ when BookScanner estimates it
Above P, BookScanner doesn't estimate a Guided Reading Level: where Scholastic has no level for a longer chapter book, BookScanner shows none rather than a letter it can't stand behind.
NOW ON MAC
BookScanner runs on the Mac as well as on iPhone and iPad, on the same purchase. Scan with the webcam at your desk. Your history is kept in your own private iCloud database and syncs to your other devices.
UNITED STATES AND UNITED KINGDOM
The ARBookFind region switch is in Settings to choose your region.
IMPORT AND EXPORT
- Export your library to CSV — sixteen columns, including where each level came from
- Import a CSV, including a file exported from the earlier BookScanner
- Export to PDF for printing, and share a single book or your whole library

Quick and easy to use.
Great app!
I use this app anytime I walk into a book store. It saves me money and time!
So much faster than typing in titles!
The "scan barcode" option is awesome. It doesnt catch every AR book but having to type in a title once in a while is much nicer than typing in every one! Also, I like that it keeps a history of the books youve scanned. I can easily see what AR books I have in my classroom library. It can even sort by level or by title which is great when trying to help kids look for books. Thanks so much for this!
I would love to see Lexile information
I like this app, scanning the barcode is very quick and accurate. If it improved a couple of items, I could give it 5 stars. First, since AR is changing their system from Book Level to Lexile, it would be very helpful to see that information provided in the app after it finds the scanned book. Secondly, it would be worth 6 stars if this could also be used as a check-out system for my classroom library.
Terrible
This app is totally useless! You might as well just look them up on the website. I love the idea, but the scanner always tells me that it is a generic bar code. Wasted $2
As a teacher
This is the BEST dollar Ive ever spent!!
Works perfect
Easy, accurate, and invaluable. Great app!
