Camera Recorder at Mac App Store analyse

This is a very simple but powerful recording software for Webcams. I am using it to make music videos with my guitar and a full-HD Logitech webcam C920 or 930. The advantage over quicktime, which can also record movies, is that it uses a H.264 encoder which results in very modest data rates at high quality. Quicktime can record HD only in uncompressed formats which consume very much disk-space. This little program can record in 1920x1080 at 30 fps at around 25 MB/s. Audio source can be selected either as internal mic or any external audio interface. Further advantage over Quicktime: It records Audio from a multichannel interface without converting all channeld to mono, such as Quicktime. Thanks a lot to the developer! Here are my requests for further updates: It would be nice to have a scalable window, in order to be able to check picture quality before recording. The picture frame should adjust to the video format automatically. It would be nice to be able to run several instances simultaneously, for recording different perspectives of the same scene. The program should remember last settings. I use the app together with another app called webcam settings, which allows to adjust the camera parameters such as focus, sharpness, color etc.

Only brief testing sofar but looks promising. No documentation as to specs/capability but usage is easy. Would be nice to assign scratch disk and also pre-assign filename. I expect to give it a good workout next few days and may add to the stars then. Support site is pretty well non-existent. All I got was a foreign portal. Perhaps the app was not meant for english speaking market?

Consistenly the application will close just moments after a recording has started. Do not buy this application.

I use it constantly to capture HDV and DV from a Canon XH - A1s, hasn’t failed me yet! Been using for about a year.

I just downloaded this app and gave it a trial run. It seems to work ok, but . . . There are several features I think it needs: When the record button is pressed, nothing seems to happen. The app is recording but there is nothing to show that it is. Perhaps the record button could change color to show it is running? Also, an hour:minute:second timer sould be a very useful addition. This would also confirm that the app is actually recording plus giving the camera operator an idea of how long the video will be. NEW REVIEW: I have tried to use this piece of trash for three weeks now. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! What a pile of garbage. Save your money - do not purchase! Every time Ive tried to record with it, it works for about one or two minutes and then hangs. The audio keeps recording but the video is absolutely frozen.Im using a Canon XH A1s camera/ I hate to do it but Im going to have to go back to Apples iMovie. Its too bad Apple couldnt leave it alone while it worked and "updated" it until it hardly resembles what it once was.

Just downloaded this. Every time I hit the record button, I get an error message that says “Cannot record. Try recording again.” I’ve visited the developer’s page, but it’s in Chinese and there is no obvious place to submit a support request, or ask for a refund.
