No Signup. No Login. Celebrating its 12th year as a mobile app, and their 14th online, the Wise Pilgrim Guides are the go-to source of up-to-date information on the Camino de Santiago. The app is updated regularly with new content and new features and offers you the ability to leave tips for pilgrims following behind you. This guide covers the Camino Francés, the most popular route across Spain. It has been redesigned and now works almost exclusively offline (to share your comments with others will require a data connection). As more an more albergues share their WiFi this becomes less of an issue, and the guide will tell you which ones offer WiFi. Accommodation Directory: A full directory of Albergues, camping, hotels, pensions, paradors, and cases rurales. Over 900 in total, with special attention to those that can be booked online. Stageless Guide: No more "stage anxiety" or guide created bottlenecks. Maps: Offline and online versions of a beautiful topographical may will give you a good view of the terrain ahead. Photos: Photos of albergues, monuments and other points of interest along the way. Currently 900+ images and growing. Scrollable Elevation Map: This one is hard to show with just a screenshot, but the elevation that appears at the top of every city page scrolls East to West. One complete elevation, from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago, uninterrupted by page folds. Comments: Albergue closed early for the season? Have a restaurant that you want to share, or perhaps one to warn others about? Every location in the app gives you the opportunity to leave a comment and to read the comments left by others. Wonderful concept

As I am a pilgrim by heart and absolutely addicted to the camino this App seems to be the best thing that has happened to my iPhone. The stages with map look wonderful, the app is just perfect with possibilities to comment and learn everything about the villages, history and albergues. But the section Update Content is not loading, even when I am using wifi... Please fix this and the App will be perfect!

Für den Preis zu wenig Informationen. Läuft langsam. Nicht aktuell und nicht detailliert genug. Springt nicht immer an die richtige Stelle zurück oder stürzt ab.

My only Guidebook

In an effort to lighten my backpack on the Camino de Santiago, I reluctantly left my guidebook at home and instead installed several iPhone apps, including the Wise Pilgrim Camino Frances app. I rarely used any other app and found this had virtually everything I needed. I used it to calculate how far I might walk, where I might stay, and what to see along the way. It did not have a ton of information, but I preferred to not over plan my pilgrimage. Several pilgrim friends would come to me to ask where to stay in particular villages. Overall, excellent value and I would definitely use it again, and keep the guidebook at home.

Doesnt Update & Missing Key Info

Have gotten no response from Wise Pilgrim support, but did see another posting from another user with the same issues i have. As installed all the lodging information is absent. If you try to update that stage your iPhone just hangs. Also I see no directions nor do I see a useful map, only an elevation profile like the Astorga profile shown in the 3rd screen pic above. The artwork is beautiful and Im hoping this app could be my walking guide. Ive tried at least 5 or 6 times over about 3 weeks, plus left messages with the support page with no response. Perhaps the developer has had a major crisis. Its a great concept. Heres hoping the issues get resolved!
