cAPPoeira is an app devoted to Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art created by African slaves and their descendants in the early 16th century. But capoeira is much more than simply a martial art, it is a way of life that encompasses music, oral storytelling traditions, language, religion, art, history and of course physical fitness. The cAPPoeira app gives users a glimpse of the richness of capoeiras culture with the following features: Movement Videos - videos displaying a few basic capoeira movements such as kicks, cartwheels and takedowns. History Articles - articles depicting snippets of the ancient and more recent history of capoeira. Group Descriptions - profiles of capoeira groups throughout the world. Paintings & Graphic Art - a collection of capoeira related art and a bio of each of the artists. School Locator - a map that allows users to find capoeira schools near them, or anywhere else in the world. Glossary of Terms - a list containing translations, explanations and interpretations of terms found throughout the capoeira culture. Music - music is a key component of capoeira, and the cAPPoeira app has an ever increasing collection of capoeira song lyrics, translations, and videos. There is no substitute for training with a capoeira group under a good Instructor, Professor, Contra-Mestre, or Mestre, but cAPPoeira can help you on your journey to becoming a better capoeirista.
