PM2.5 air quality info around you Getting healthy air is a basic right of everyone. Healthy air is clean air without pollution. Through this application , you will be able get to know real-time of PM2.5 air quality around you and we can work together to combat the threat of air pollution. The current major monitoring sites are only available in Peninsular Malaysia such as Kuala Lumpur , Penang , Ipoh , Melaka , Cheras , Ampang , Seremban and Johor Bahru. We need more people to adopt this air quality monitoring tool. The more people adopt , the more real-time PM2.5 readings we have. About CleanAirMalaysia.com CleanAirMalaysia.com aims to raise public awareness of air quality around our residence, especially Kuala Lumpur and other parts of Peninsular Malaysia, by providing real-time monitoring data from air quality measurement tool that we spread in different parts of Peninsular Malaysia, with the measurement of PM2.5 and PM10 as parameters of air quality index. Air quality in Malaysia and PM2.5 real-time monitoring Particles smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter, known as PM2.5, are fine enough to lodge deep into human lung and blood tissue. They place exposed populations at risk of heart and lung diseases, ranging from stroke to lung cancer. In severe cases, this pollution contributes directly to fatalities. PM2.5 is generally the product of combustion, whether anthropogenic, like car emissions and coal burning, or through forest fires and volcanoes. For vulnerable populations, including children and elderly, high concentrations of PM2.5 can be a particularly virulent killer. The leading cause of child mortality ages one to five worldwide is pneumonia, and fine particulates are a major global contributor to its incidence : http://epi.yale.edu/chapter/air-quality Many articles have written about air pollution problem especially in Malaysia such as (TheStar) . Based on the articles written are supposed to major cities in Asia, Malaysia should have to monitor air quality in real-time. In particular, the PM2.5 is one of the most harmful pollutants from an existing source of air pollution : https://www.epa.gov/criteria-air-pollutants The official Air Quality Index (AQI) from Department of Environment of Malaysia is only based on PM10, and not PM2.5. , meaning that during the period of haze, the published AQI reading is most likely lower than the actual air quality : http://apims.doe.gov.my/public_v2/home.html The best solution to monitor air quality PM2.5 is the effort should be done by a fully authorized Ministry of Environment by putting as many PM2.5 monitoring stations as possible in Kuala Lumpur and beyond.
