Description
Three hours deep. It felt like twenty minutes.
That's flow — and it has a sound. clir Focus plays the real ambience of wherever you are, soft and almost ASMR, while AI filters every voice out before it reaches you. The café hum stays. The table behind you doesn't.
WHY VOICES?
Because overheard conversation is the best-documented focus-killer there is. Research on the "irrelevant speech effect" shows intelligible background speech is one of the most disruptive sounds for concentration — and that masking it measurably improves cognitive performance (Haapakangas, Hongisto & Liebl, 2020, Indoor Air). Ambient sound itself isn't the problem; moderate, café-level ambience can even be good company for a thinking brain (Mehta, Zhu & Cheema, 2012, Journal of Consumer Research). So we keep your world — and melt the words out of it.
THEN SINK DEEPER
Two optional layers sit on top of your voice-free surroundings:
- COLORED NOISE — white, pink or brown, steady and warm. A 2024 meta-analysis found white and pink noise provide a small but significant improvement in attention and task performance for people with ADHD or elevated attention difficulties (Nigg et al., Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry).
- BINAURAL BEATS — a gentle way to settle in. A meta-analysis found binaural beats reduce anxiety, with low-frequency beats producing a medium-to-large calming effect (Garcia-Argibay, Santed & Reales, 2019, Psychological Research). We offer them for calm and wellbeing: ease your system down, then let the sound hold you.
Dial each layer until the world is exactly as present as you want it — then forget the app exists.
BUILT FOR BUSY BRAINS
If your head runs 47 tabs at once, you're who we built this for.
- One tap to start — voices filtered automatically, layers only if you want them
- Nothing flashes, counts down, or keeps score against you
- No streaks, no gamification, no guilt — low sensory load by design
- Works wherever you work: café, office, library, train, kitchen table
HONEST BY DESIGN
We come from hearing technology, so we read the studies before we write the features. Where the evidence is strong (voice masking), we lead with it. Where it's modest, we say "small but significant," because that's what the research says. clir Focus is a focus tool, not a medical device — it doesn't diagnose or treat any condition.
FROM THE TEAM BEHIND CLIR HEARING
The same AI that helps people pull one voice out of a noisy restaurant, flipped around: every voice out, your world in.
Put your headphones on. The world goes soft, the work pulls you in. Come up for air hours later.
