The Art Institute of Chicago has thousands of works of art on view—each with their own stories to tell. With this app, we would like to share these stories with you. Featuring selected works of art, initially from the Art Institute’s renowned collection of modern art and eventually encompassing other collections, this app takes you closer to works of art by giving you basic information on the work’s history and significance—and then offering a range of multimedia materials that bring it to life. What did the artists think about what they were doing? How was the work installed in the museum? Who were the collectors bringing art from around the world to Chicago, and why? To begin, tap on the image of a work and explore the options. Swipe to move forward and backward. But mostly, enjoy your time in our galleries, and check back for the addition of more works of art.
