MacUser Magazine, August 2011 rated the full version of Data Rescue 3 "Best of Breed"

Data Rescue is the #1 selling, most-awarded recovery software on the Mac platform. With this special App Store version, you can recover data from external, non-boot drives. Compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion!

Read real reviews from magazines and search online at store.apple.com to see hundreds of 4 and 5 star reviews.

External, non-boot drives that show up in Disk Utility, but will not mount can be recovered with Data Rescue 3 External Drive Recovery. If youve deleted files from an external, non-boot drive, you can use Data Rescue 3 External Drive Recovery to scan that drive to find previously-deleted files.

Data Rescue 3 EDR cannot recover an ethernet or wifi-connected hard drive. Network Drives can have various file systems on them (HFS+, Linux, etc) and Data Rescue does not support all these file systems. It is recommended that you download the Data Rescue 3 demo from our website to scan your network drive (which must be connected via FireWire or USB) to see if Data Rescue can see the files on it.

Not for Pages documents

I was advised by a computer technician at the Apple store to buy this program to recover my lost documents from Pages. However, this program does not work for recovery of Pages documents. Unfortunately, the research I did on my own and with my brothers help related that Pages documents information are saved in multiple disparate files, so there is not a single recovery program available currently that has any reported success knowing they are linked to recover the document.

This product it horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Error codes everyitme I try to scan a SD Card. I could have purchased a ton of phone apps instead of this useless recovery tool.

Digging deeper, great product and support!!

I read the recent reviews of this product and was turned off because it didnt seem to be working for many people. I looked into other products and it seems that they all have issues with Mountain Lion… So I called up Prosoft (they were the only ones based in the United States, so I could speak to a support person on the phone). It turns out their Mac App Store version (and other competing products) wont run under Mountain Lion due to App Store rules/changes.. It works fine under Lion and their full version works fine under any OS.. So Im guessing thats the big misunderstanding. If youre running Mountain Lion, just get the full version- Support was very helpful which is a godsend in a crisis-

Wont identify drives on MBP 15 Retina

I used this very successfully on my previous laptop (MBA 11 i7) but on my new MBP 15 Retina, it will not recognize any of my 5 external hard drives. The same drives were recognized on my MBA. When it works, its great but it seems to depend on what type of Mac you have.

DOES NOT WORK!

just purchased. doesnt work. want a refund.

No recovery apps work Mountain Lion-

After much investigation, it turns out no apps here on the app store will work with Mountain Lion (something changed in Mountain Lion and these apps are not allowed to have the needed code to work under Mountain Lion). So if you have Mountain Lion, go to the compant website of the product directly (the full versions are not bound by App Store rules and therefore dont have any issues). Prosoft is based in California (not China like most of these others) and that makes dealing with support a million times better-

Rip Off

I purchased this item for 59.99, in hopes of recovering an external hard drive I had deleted files on. The drive itself was recognized by Disk Utility and appeared alongside my regular hard drive. I was excited because I had used Data Rescue 2 previously. Unfortunately, this version of the software did not read my drive, no matter what I did. I could save files to the drive, I could browse it, I could do everything through OSX, but Data Rescue basically said, "Nope, its not there!" over and over. The Help Section was completely unhelpful - it suggested rescanning and the drive never showed up. How is it I can save files to the drive through OSX, see it on my desktop, but Data Rescue refuses to see it? COMPLETE RIP-OFF.
