Design³ By Proto Labs Proto Labs is a rapid manufacturer of prototype and low-volume production parts. To better understand the often complicated process of injection molding, we’ve created Design³ - an augmented reality (AR) app that allows users to digitally explore multiple facets of thermoplastic injection molding through a design cube. Upon opening Design³, simply point your mobile device at any Proto Labs logo for the three-dimensional cube to appear. With the swipe of a finger, you can rotate the cube 360 degrees to reveal the different elements that product developers encounter during part design. Tap on each feature to learn about thick and thin bosses, knit lines, ribs, surface finishes, undercuts and other design considerations. Our virtual design cube is based on Proto Labs’ popular Design Cube aid, the physical counterpart to Design³. Users are able to order a free Design Cube directly within the app.
