Description

Phil Klines dreamcitynine is a community of stories told by many different people. For the three weeks of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festivals, the stories can be experienced by walking around the plazas of Lincoln Center, where your location will trigger groups of stories (if your device does not support GPS positioning, you may tap points on the map to start a story group). On the evening of August 3rd, there will be a special performance in which the 60 stories will be played in a set order, accompanied by 60 percussionists positioned around the plazas. A cue will be given around 6:30 pm for the audience members to start their story sequence. It is suggested that the external speakers of your playback device be used so that the stories can be heard in the open air of the plazas. dreamcitynine was conceived as an homage to John Cage, using indeterminate elements in composition and performance, and celebrating the greater artistic community which was central to Cage’s life and work.
