Description

A Basic Facial Expression Tutorial combined with a Facial Expression Challenge Game Simulation. Learn the major facial expressions and test your skills in the Challenge Mode. The Challenge mode simulates micro expressions as popularized by Paul Ekman. Great for learning what parts of the face move during certain emotions. Good as a drawing reference as well as for educational purposes. Check out a video of the app in action here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFat36l_oRQ

Great Learning Tool!

The challenge mode on expert is hard! I mustve played it a hundred times before I finally beat it. Addictive!

Not bad for free

SsveCharlie · 13 years ago

Not bad at all. I wish that as there were more difficulties. By that I mean that there should be multiple levels of easy, wherein the expressions get more subtle. Then medium would be faster and start over making the expressions more obvious to less obvious in the same way; and so on. Also in challenge there is no way to return to the main menu without finishing or closing the app. Overall pretty good app though.

Revert back?

The new update does not all me to use the app. What gives?

I am the developer for this app.

Thanks to the review by the Chirashi i was able to fix a bug ( not being able to tap menu buttons sometimes) in 1.11 that only shows up in Release mode. I have submitted this fix in the app store, and it is pending approval. Sorry for the inconvenience. ( I do this in my spare time so I apologize)

Awesome

Great for reaching macro expressions. Though there appears to be no back button....

Not for micro-expressions

Aegraphic · 12 years ago

The app is a pretty good tool for helping people learn basic facial expressions (sadness, anger, fear etc) when these are fully present on a face. The app itself works fine. However, this app does not actually fulfill its intended purpose. The app consists of one simulated face showing a set number of emotional expressions. In challenge mode, these same expressions flash quickly between two neutral expressions. Micro-expressions are usually very subtle, and their appearance varies from person to person... So having only one face (female, white, young) in the app, that simply flashes a set number of identical full emotional expressions doesnt teach people to recognize micro-expressions. If you are looking to get a basic understanding of facial expressions, the app is a good place to start. For those truly interested in micro-expressions, this will not be helpful.
