Well worth the 99 cents!

cjdevonshire · 15 years ago

This is a great little app for the money! Two videos are truly standout, while 2 are merely ok, but getting all four for 99 cents is the best deal for aquarium apps right now. My 3 year-old cannot get enough of the sardines swimming in patterns--its really hypnotic, and the sound is very well done too; something about the air bubbles is so soothing. I really want a screen saver version of these videos: Jesse Lauro are you listening?

I like it but...

as one reviewer noted, the sounds for Reef and Deep Sea are not natural sounding and have voices in the background like youre watching a fish tank in a mall. I also would like a wider view of the fish, looks too zoomed in. I would give it another star if these get fixed. Otherwise, good app for the price.

Fairly disappointed overall

The app is called Fish Tank HD, but the resolution seems to be only around 900x512. Pretty much NOT HD in my book. Secondly, the Fish Tank premise is pretty weak as well. Its common for a fish that fills the screen to come into frame from somewhere beyond the edge of the screen and disappear completely beyond the opposite edge! Not a convincing Fish Tank simulation at all. A much more suitable title would be Video of Fish in Medium Resolution. If the video was shot of a real aquarium, with the front glass filling the entire frame, it would achieve the desired affect, that of a Fish Tank with all the expected boundaries thereof. I wish I had my buck back. Oh yeah, and the sound is not very soothing at all either. But in fairness, I dont know what Id prefer in that regard.

Why is it called HD?

Cruciatus12 · 15 years ago

After downloading the free version I thought Id give the supposedly "HD" one a try. I was hoping the Reef fish (the default for Fish Tank Free) would finally look clearer, but theyre exactly the same as in the free app. The Deep Sea aquarium is crystal clear (the only reason this got 2 stars instead of one), but the rest are very disappointing with fuzzy graphics and boring color schemes. Look elsewhere for a paid aquarium app, or just stick with the free version.

Pay version not that much better.........

Honestly, I was hoping that the previous reviewer was wrong about his review, but he wasnt. The video on the 99c version isnt that much better than on the free version. I cant see this being HD at all. The video loop is short for each tank, and the videos just arent as sharp as I would have liked. I dont regret my 99c purchase either, but Id be skeptical of another purchase of a Fish Tank app like this. Sorry, I wish I could have been more positive.

Needs HD upgrade!

Mr. Porritt · 15 years ago

Hey great app! Its very soothing and I also enjoy the sound of the water. But Ill have to agree that this isnt HD. Just upgrade to HD and this will be great. Thanks

HD?

For an APP with HD in its title, it should actually have HD video.
