Well worth the wait. I have been using FlybyNav on my pocket PC for years. A great flight planning tool, and easy to use. Add the FlybyNav E6B, and you have everything you need to plot and calculate your flights. Glad to see FlybyNav available for the iPhone and am looking forward to the updated iPad version. you wont be sorry.

A great program for A to B great circle navigation. Input your aircraft type with the cruise TAS and fuel flow. Your time to destination, ground speed, drift correction, fuel burn are automatically displayed based on your input of wind data. Tap the symbol above your departure or destination airport and the and the airport information is displayed. An excellent tool for quick and easy flight planning. Don Barr

Have used the PRO version for years on my (modified) Palm LifeDrive. In this version, you may only use two waypoints, However, if you have a trip with several waypoints, you may put them in one after the other, creating the navlog as you go. The PRO version would allow one to create the entire navigation log in one shot. Once you have the legs stored, you can change info for any given leg. EG: A descent from one altitude to another might need a change in the wind vector. No problem! Just type it in! Magnetic variation changes all the time. Ease of access to any given waypoint. I had one waypoint whose default values was 22 degrees East, but its current value is 18.5 degrees. Bingo! just change it out. (The app will "warn you" about the change, but, caveat emptor!) My usual procedure is to create the nav log first, with no wind applied. With an UP TO DATE chart you just make sure that the magnetic track shown in the navlog is, at least within a couple of degrees. (Usually, if youve made sure the variation in the waypoints concerned are up to date, its bang on.) When helping out with private pilot students, we must make sure they learn the basics first, as is normal. Instructors can give them the problem and let them sweat it out, while Fly by Nav will make short work of the problem, and he may drink coffee till he/she bursts. My hope is that we will see the PRO version added to the app store. IMHO, the time it saves is worth $

Awesome

I have used palm versions of this program for years, and now that it is available for the I-phone I can finally put my palm to rest. This I-phone version is easier to use and way more intuitive. I love the fact that I can show my crew a map of where we are going and the new expanded worldwide data base makes it easy to find destinations, waypoints and navaids. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic Flight Planning Software

This incredible app just got even better with the addition of the Cost Per Hour function. Once you input your aircraft cost per hour you can then calculate the cost of each trip with wind taken into consideration. Now when the boss asks how much will it cost to go from A to B, I can give him an accurate estimate of how long it will take and how much it will cost for each LR of the trip. This is the BEST flight planning software for the price available today. I have used it since its earliest days on a PALM. Additionally the support is second to none. If you ever have a suggestion or comment, your email is returned immediately. A long time ago I suggested Fuel and Flight Time bias options to account for takeoffs, climbs, descents, and landings in order to more accurately compute actual flight times and more importantly fuel burns. I have used this software for everything from small experimental aircraft to large business jets. The accuracy is incredible especially when using the fuel bias. Cant tell you how many times the boss has asked me "how long would it take us to go from a to b"... Within seconds I have an answer. I typically leave the average wind stored for the current season and it is a great WAG. If I need more accurate flight times and fuel burns I average the winds aloft at departure and destination and insert those. Try it. You will love it.

FlyBy Nav

Had previously utilized FlyBy Nav, FlyBy E6B, & FlyBy Nav Pro on an HP PDA since 2004 and am glad to see it was available for iPod/iPhone. Both the E6B & Nav are greatly improved with easy to use features such as fuel burn rates and ETE when current winds are know and added into calculations. Impressive data base of airports. Even if you are enroute destination not in data base, you can easily input the lat/long, enter, and save in your favorites. Would definitely recommend to fellow aviators. Tech support from skywritersoft and Mr Ganz is top notch. Look forward to release of FlyBy Nav Pro in iPhone iteration.
