Description
Turn your iPhone into a precision navigation instrument. Get coordinates in every major format, a compass, an altimeter, solar and lunar information, and a HUD speedometer. Your position readout continues working without a mobile-data signal.
COORDINATES IN EVERY FORMAT
Read your position instantly in:
- Latitude and longitude in decimal degrees
- Degrees and decimal minutes (DD-MM)
- Degrees, minutes and seconds (DMS)
- Radians
- Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM)
- Military Grid Reference System (MGRS)
- Universal Polar Stereographic (UPS), for Arctic and Antarctic regions where UTM and MGRS are undefined
Grid conversions run entirely on your device, so you can obtain a complete MGRS reference even on a ridge with no mobile signal.
NAVIGATION TOOLS
- Compass showing true and magnetic headings side by side
- Altimeter with a live trend graph of the last four minutes and a session maximum
- Speedometer in m/s, km/h, ft/s, mph or knots, with a rolling digit readout
- HUD mode — rotate to landscape for a mirrored windscreen display. The screen stays awake while you drive.
- G-force gauge with gravity excluded, measuring real acceleration and braking
- Sunrise, sunset and length of day for your current location
- Moon Status showing the current phase, time until the next full and new moon, distance from Earth and days into the lunar cycle
- Flashlight for reading a map after dark
Swipe left on Solar Times to reveal Moon Status. Solar and lunar calculations are performed directly on your device.
KNOW HOW GOOD YOUR FIX IS
Most apps show a position and leave you to assume it is accurate. Global Position displays the measured accuracy of your current fix in metres, colour-coded Good, Fair or Poor, so you know whether to trust it before you act.
You can also choose how hard the GPS works: High for navigation, Medium for everyday use or Low when conserving battery matters more than maximum precision.
LOCATION AND MAP
- Share your position and address with any app in one tap
- Automatic address lookup from your coordinates
- Standard, satellite and hybrid maps
- Follow your location, or follow both your location and heading
AVAILABLE IN 24 LANGUAGES
Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
Grid references remain in standard notation in every language, ensuring that what appears on your screen still matches your paper map and everyone else’s radio call.
BUILT FOR THE FIELD
Global Position is made for hikers, sailors, pilots, surveyors, field researchers, search-and-rescue teams, off-road drivers and travellers—anyone for whom knowing exactly where they are is not optional.
Download Global Position and always know your position.
