Estimation application downloads and cost
Description
Made for the pilot, flight enthusiast, and aviation buff.
This is a pattern hold entry computer. The iPhone/iPod touch gives you the perfect touch interface that makes this program easy to use and understand.
1. Rotate your finger around the compass to select the heading of your plane.
2. Select either the standard (right hand) pattern or the left hand pattern.
3. Rotate your finger around the compass until the inbound heading (as illustrated by the dashed line) is on the correct compass heading.
The outbound heading (reciprocal of the inbound heading) and it section that it lies in tells you what your method of entry should be.
Remember, always enter the hold on the protected side. Call ATC when you are entering the hold and then call them again once you are established.
*** PATTERN DIRECTION ***
Standard hold patterns are TO THE RIGHT.
Standard traffic patterns are TO THE LEFT.
Apples to oranges ;-)
Thats not to say published holds or hold clearances cant be left, its just the "standard" is to to right for holds.
"I personally use several of the PunkStar Studio iPhone/iPod applications. Some, like the Cold Air Calculator, are incredibly useful for even the most advanced pilot, while others, like the Hold Pattern Calculator, are perfect for demonstrations with my students (who are thrilled when they see it for the first time). Im a loyal customer/user of several of the PunkStar Studio apps (even non-aviation related) and look forward to their future releases. I highly recommend their products to all aviators, from the professional airline pilot and flight instructor to the casual pilot."
