Description

iAuscultate: Learn to use your stethoscope. iAuscultate is an iPhone App developed to improve your skills at heart auscultation. Developed for use by new to seasoned users of stethoscopes in any of the health professions. SALE! New cheaper price for a limited time only! This educational app is not your usual auscultation teaching tool: the app does not present an unmanageable list of heart sounds to learn; rather, iAuscultate concentrates on nine heart sounds. Further, the app allows you to put forth a very concentrated effort for your learning. Rather than hearing a few beats scattered throughout your learning career, iAuscultate has you listen to one sound for 200 seconds - take a break - repeat. Significantly, to augment your learning we provide a visual movie for you to see while listening to each sound. Watching a visual representation of the sound while learning augments the process significantly. The nine sounds include normal, four systolic murmurs, two diastolic murmurs, and two extra heart sounds. Upon completion of iAuscultate you will have literally heard approximately 4,500 beats. iAuscultate can be used as an initial learning tool, or a tool to improve skills in a seasoned auscultator. iAuscultate can also used periodically to keep your skills fresh. The app was developed by Glenn Nordehn and Spencer Strunic of the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth and Peter Bentley of University College London. [If you want to use your iphone as a digital stethoscope, please check out the related app: iStethoscope Pro.]

Put heart sounds in long-term memory.

StethoscopeEvaluator · 16 years ago

You will know your basic heart sounds forever after using this app. The app requires a time committment. You watch a video loop while hearing the 1st sound for 200 sec. (twice) . . . then you move down a list of other sounds. Dont use the little ear bud headphones or the internal iPhone speaker; use some nice large headphones. Heart sounds are very low pitched - small speakers dont play very low pitches well. Great, high quality, app. Excellent learning tool that engages your long-term memory.

Impressive app for medical education

Creative and effective app for health educators and students - app works well - nice to have these sounds available at my fingertips for my students. Well done.

Does not work

Swiftreel · 16 years ago

The program freezes if you try to start the timer too listen to anything, makes the app basically useless.

Great app!!

This app works perfectly on my iPhone. Great for learning!! Good headphones are a must!

Very Dissappointing App

crewella · 16 years ago

Application opens, I can read the instructions, however, everytime I try to start the timer to listen, the app freezes and or shuts down. I have tried to open all of the heart sounds and it happens on each one. Website tech support suggests its a user problem, with the user hitting the start button more then once causing it to pause. I can assure you I hit the start button once and the app freezes at 199sec. Hopefully an update comes soon - or this was a waste of $1.99.

Graphic Error Please Fix

jhlorax · 16 years ago

In the introduction graphics there is a diastolic murmur example with an incorrectly labeled systole section indicating "no diastolic murmur." Should be "no systolic murmur."

iCrap App

This app does not work, DO NOT BUY! Shame on this company if they do not fix this app. I would love to konw who gave this above 1 star. The app freezes up and when it does not freeze up does not play any kind of sounds.
