The iBCLS app is an iPod touch application to augment the Ngee Ann Polytechnics Diploma in Health Sciences Nursing (HSN) students learning of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques and processes. The objective of this app is to help students to learn and test them on the correct sequence of CPR techniques and processes. The app comprises of the following sub-modules. Learn Consists of 4 main procedures: a. One-man Adult CPR b. Relief of Adult Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) c. Infant One-Rescuer CPR d. Relief of Infant Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) Question Bank A question bank with appropriate taxonomy levels is set up for students to perform self-assessment on the theoretical contents covered in the module. Scenario-based Play Students will be able to practice their life-saving decision-making skills while handling different case scenarios. Tracking Students will be able to review their scores and app usage history. Practice The app incorporates a metronome - actual counting as in "one and two and three and four" to simulate cardiac compressions for deliverance of 100 beats per minute. The app allows the user to simulate cardiac compressions and ventilation. Duration of the compressions and ventilation are recorded to determine if it is within the recommended duration.
