I was originally very happy with this app. My son is 15 and newly diagnosed. He is often super hungry at meals and hasty in his math. This app made it very easy and it was simple. I saw another comment about inaccurate insulin recommendations when the persons blood glucose is under target. I did the math and it is true. It only tabulates the carb factor when the first half is negative value. Put in 70 BG (or even lower) just to try it and you will see. This means my child is getting more insulin than necessary when his sugar is already down and he is not getting an accurate correction. I am not OK with that. My other recommendation to the maker was to consider adding bedtime and overnight as additional screens since my sons equations are different at those times. I am really displeased that it is so hard to find an app that can do this math correctly. We may have to continue using this app for now but only for higher blood glucose levels.

Description
To calculate insulin units, enter the value of your current blood sugar and the number of carbohydrates contained in your meal. Press the Calculate button and the actual and rounded insulin units will be displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Insulin units are calculated using the following formula:
((Pre-Meal Blood Sugar - Blood Sugar Goal) / Correction Factor) + (Meal Carbohydrates / Carbohydrate Factor)
I wrote this app after my 8 year old granddaughter was diagnosed with diabetes, with the goal of accuracy and ease of use in mind. The goal was reached because she uses it daily to calculate her own insulin units. The units are double checked by an adult, but the app is simple enough for a child to use.

Concerned with off calculations
Love it.
This app is really cool. Not perfect but it helps.
Could be better
Needs a ratio set up for use with high blood sugars. Inaccurate numbers and dose recommendations can cause health issues. People should know better on their own and know what and how much to take, but people are lazy.
Simple and efficient
This app is the simplest to understand and to use for quickest bolus calculation. No fuss, no bug. Straight to the info for a tiny investment. Worth it. Maybe a tad anti-fun design but were not using it for play. Thank you, the diabetics granfather who made it! However, if you need to calculate more than 3 meals/day (save more than 3 settings), or if you want to save your data to archive or download it, this is not the app for you. (Or if it is theres no explanation nor findings about it). My 7 yr old daughter eats snacks in school in addition to the other meals. Although they are pre-calculated and the nurse has a paper chart for reference, it makes her eating habits exceed 3meals/day on off school days, with us. Type 1 discovery concerns children.
Extremely helpful!!!
Having just been diagnosed with diabetes, this app is a great way to help me get adjusted to the process of taking insulin. Thank you to the creator :)
An apparent calculation problem
Ive had Type 1 for almost 40 years. I find the app to be of great use - almost. If my meter-read glucose is above target, everything is OK. However if its below target it calculates a dose thats too large. Specifically the X value becomes an absolute value and the sign of the calculation is lost. For example a measured value of 74 and a target of 120 yields a negative number. When added to the Y value the app suggests 3.57 instead of 2.65. If I take 3.57 units I end up on the floor waiting for EMS.
Great help
My son was just diagnosed with type 1. Just started to use this app and so far so good. This helps me double check my calculation with insulin.
