iSpy Phonics helps children learn the first building blocks of reading – fast. iSpy enables children to match phonic sounds with letters using illustrations, pictures and accurate pronunciation - all whilst playing the age old game of I Spy. It provides a fun and highly interactive way to help children learn to recognize letters and their phonic sound – the first stage in reading. Kids love adding their own pictures and voice to the app making it a fun game you can play with them and enabling them to change the content as they progress. Ask your child what else they “Spy” that starts with a sound and reward them by helping them to take a photo and record their own voice saying it. Kids have never had so much fun whilst learning. You can relax as the app is childproofed, so you can restore all the original images and sound files at the touch of a button. iSpy Phonics has been developed in conjunction with a British speech and language therapist to ensure educational accuracy. It covers each letter in the alphabet and four additional common consonant sounds. Each sound is illustrated individually and has a clear photograph of an everyday object accompanying it. iSpy Phonics

This is a very good app for a beginning reader. One caveat for American English speakers; the vowel sounds are clearly British and an American speaker will need to monitor the childs pronunciation of vowel sounds and make corrections as the child learns the sounds. Otherwise, it is an app that we have been looking for for our 4 year old.

A customized tool to make learning interesting

I appreciate the potential in this app to transform any photo that is meaningful into a customized phonics learning experience. For example, we had a photo of a boogie board, and put this in the "B" space. If you take the time to set it up, the children can get very engaged because they will relate to the cues you have chosen. Nice work!

I love it that a child can participate in customizing the photos and recorded phonic sounds as part of the app experience, building their own library of phonic sounds in their own voice.

This is a great interactive app which will allow your kids to go running through the house looking for objects, taking pictures, and having fun learning how to read. Makes learning into a treasure hunt... We like the narrators British accent and the ability to record our own words.

I like the fact that iSpy Phonics focuses on letter sounds while also providing an interactive feature. By creating their own flashcards your child will have to look around themselves and think about those sounds.

I was looking for such an app for my daughter to associate sounds with letters symbols, and it is perfect for this! Sounds are very clean, and the possibility to add new picture to letter/sound is engaging!

Great customizable app for pronunciations

I liked this app a lot for a beginning reader or even a toddler whos just starting to enunciate words. The app only comes with 1 picture-word combination for every phoneme, but we can easily add more words to the app. I also like the fact that you can record your own voice - because though the British accent is cool, it sounds a lot different from the American accent that my daughter is used to. Very innovative and fun app. I can see my daughter wanting to record all the different words in the near future :)
