In It Takes My Mind Off Things Robin Butter visually investigates gun culture in the Netherlands.
When taking into consideration that the Netherlands is in the top five of European countries manufacturing firearm components, there are numerous shooting clubs and there is an extremely controlled environment which necessitates hunting, one could wonder; Is the Netherlands not -secretly- a gun nation?
Robin Butter, whilst investigating the culture of the shooting clubs in the Netherlands, discovered a stigma surrounding these clubs in the Dutch media. It seems to be a culture under fire.
The debate surrounding gun safety is applicable not only to the Netherlands, it is a global issue that needs to be addressed.
This is a winning project for the YdocBookApp Prize 2014.
